December 2021: The Deep Fake Phenomenon and its Main Drivers

Bad Homburg, 12/1/2021
by FERI Cognitive Finance Institute

Original and fake - two phenomena that have become almost indistinguishable thanks to so-called deep fake technology. Already today, the use of state-of-the-art artificial intelligence techniques enables deceptively genuine fabrication and manipulation of media content - often only playfully, but increasingly also purposefully and with malicious intent.

Further technical advances in the field of AI, as well as strong impulses from the film and media industry, will produce "perfect" fakes in all forms of digital media in the near future. These could cause massive problems and drastically change business, politics and society - as our Cognitive Briefing "Challenge Deep Fake - How Digital Fakes Destroy Reality" illustrates.
