The Facebook group Meta still dominates the market for data glasses - with market shares of over 80% in the fourth quarter of 2022. With the new XR glasses from Apple, a "spatial computer" called "Apple Vision Pro", there is movement in a market for which strong growth is forecast for the coming years (market volume has increased fivefold since 2021).
It remains to be seen whether the futuristic-looking high-tech glasses with their five sensors, 12 cameras and two 4K displays will join the list of major product innovations such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
According to Apple, it wants to "fundamentally change the way we work and interact" and herald the age of "spatial computing": i.e. a spatial interaction between man and machine, in which a user is physically connected to the digital world of a computer communicated and integrated into it.
