Space is a field of intense geostrategic rivalry for the two superpowers, the USA and China. At the same time, it is about important "enabling technologies", with the help of which a new lucrative economic area in space is being staked out.
In addition to states, however, ambitious entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson are increasingly breaking up traditional structures and driving the new boom in space. Their aim is to transport people and payloads into space at low cost, establish orbital data and communication networks and develop space travel as a new growth market.
The development potential of "New Space" is very interesting for entrepreneurs and investors: by 2040, the global "space industry" is expected to generate sales of more than 1 trillion dollars, with individual sub-sectors multiplying.
However, in addition to great potential, the new space race also harbors uncertainties and dangers, especially due to increased military use.
Everything you need to know about this topic can be found in the German "Cognitive Briefing": „New Space“: Economic domain of the future, available in the download area.
