The Earth is getting hotter and hotter - and global warming of around 2.7 degrees by the end of the century is becoming increasingly likely. This means that the goal of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 to a maximum of 2 degrees would be missed by a wide margin!
But although critical climate tipping points are drawing ever closer, the serious consequences of climate change are still being underestimated.
According to the alarming assessment of the Cognitive Finance Institute, this also applies to financial systems and capital markets. After all:
Climate risks are increasingly becoming financial risks!
Against the backdrop of rapidly increasing climate damage, many risks will be virtually uninsurable in the future, which could quickly lead to a systemic problem.
In its focus study „Climate Tipping Points – Das Umkippen essentieller Klimasysteme als globales Risiko“ (“Climate Tipping Points – The collapse of essential climate systems as a global risk”) the Cognitive Finance Institute provides in-depth insights into this complex topic and highlights what investors need to know now in order to identify impending systemic risks at an early stage and take advantage of potential opportunities.
A short version of the study can be downloaded in German from the download area on this page.
