September 2021: High momentum in digital assets (crypto-assets).

Bad Homburg, 9/1/2021
by FERI Cognitive Finance Institute

The term "tokenization" stands for a purely data-based representation of assets in the form of digital usage or ownership rights (tokens). Without owning assets in physical form, they can be represented in arbitrary fractions as digital tokens. Both traditional assets and intangible assets can thus be transformed into digital crypto assets. This new future trend is still in its infancy, but it is likely to accelerate rapidly and fundamentally change traditional financial systems and capital markets. In the EU alone, the market potential for crypto-assets is estimated at EUR 1.4 trillion as early as 2024. For a detailed analysis on the topic, see our study: "Blockchain and Tokenization - Disruption of the Financial System by Crypto-Assets and Decentralized Finance (DeFi)" (available in German).
