The USA is extremely divided politically. However, the current polarization has grown historically and can be traced back over many years.
The Republicans in particular have moved significantly to the right in the last decade - reinforced by Donald Trump - much more than the Democrats have moved away from their ideological center. The current split between Democrats and Republicans is the widest in five decades.
The FERI Cognitive Finance Institute analyses what consequences such a polarized environment could have in the upcoming US election in November, what risk scenarios can be derived from a quite realistic re-election of the Republican Trump for the USA, Europe and the world in the analysis "Trump reloaded - Impending transformation of the USA into a presidential dictatorship".
